Doug and I had a wonderful time at your very well organised conference. Thank you! We really enjoyed meeting your other participants! It was a wonderful week!

Just a note to say how much we enjoyed the conference. It was lovely to meet you and Peter and the group – some new and some old friends. The standard of the papers and contributions was great and the venue perfect. Of course, the organisation was excellent.

My wife Maree and I attended the Learned Friends legal conference on Lord Howe Island in 2012. The quality and diversity of the presenters were excellent. The location of the conference was stunning and outside of conference hours all attendees, presenters and their families socialised in a relaxed environment (what a great family getaway!). It was a pleasure to attend.

Just a note from Kim and I to thank you for the photos and DVD from the Lord Howe conference. It was a wonderful week (when I need to slow down I close my eyes and pretend I am back there!). You and the guys did a very professional job. From my very limited exposure, you are certainly streets ahead of your competition.
Best wishes, and thanks again!

Vietnam 2012 was my first Learned Friends conference : it certainly will not be my last.
I went without expectations and was overwhelmed by the camaraderie of the delegates, the calibre of the papers and the overall excellence of organisation. Not only did I have a wonderful time I learnt something more than what makes up “pho”.
I can’t wait for Cambodia in 2013

The first conference I attended run by Learned Friends was on Lord Howe Island in March 2012 and it will not be the last. John, Peter and Paige organised an interesting, relevant and informative professional program and the social side of the conference was balanced nicely against the formal part. We had lectures in the historic hall where one could glimpse the beautiful turquoise ocean if one looked sideways. In the afternoons we could enjoy the beautiful natural environment. As a person travelling on my own they looked after me really well and I would highly recommend the Learned Friends conferences based on my experience with Lord Howe Island.

Thank you very much for the invitation to the conference. It was great having the opportunity to meet a group of high level legal professionals without the ceremony which is often surrounded by these events. From my accounts and others there you are running an excellent forum for legal discussion with an essential healthy balance of relaxation. It was a pleasure being involved.

My fiancée and I attended the Learned Friends Lord Howe Island conference in April 2014. The speakers were engaging and thought-provoking. I really appreciated the small-group atmosphere where you really got to know the speakers and other attendees. This helped enormously with the level of engagement and discussion. The conference was very professionally organised, and who could object to spending a week in magnificent Lord Howe Island!

Tom and I are still talking about the wonderful time we had on Lord Howe Island at the April 2014 conference.
The conference was excellent, small enough to get to know everyone (and make great friends) and the papers were very good, all relevant topics and some very entertaining speakers.
At first I was worried that Tom would not have enough to do while I was off learning, but you have to say that life is pretty grand when your partner can go snorkeling 5 days straight!!.
It’s a wonderful place and I can see why you are Peter are so in love with it.
Anyway I expect we will see you next March!

Just a note to thank you and Peter for a most enjoyable and productive gathering.
On the conference side you had collected a first rate group of speakers. The material and topics were well weighted to the group. With judges, barristers, solicitors and others there was an excellent mix of the range of legal issues we all need to appreciate.
I particularly enjoyed the input from the local practitioners. The discussions about local land holding, local indigenous land claims and the customary land rights issues was engaging and enlightening. As you know I then saw the speakers in action when visiting the courts.
May I also say how welcoming and caring the group, and you in particular, were to the assembled throng. It was delightful to be included in the various trips and gatherings. The mix of those who were meeting old friends again and getting to know newcomers was full of opportunity for all.
The venue was as one might expect from the words Hawaiian Conference. A wonderful beach, good facilities, food and wine abundant and top quality. A charming mix of education and fun.
All the best for the ongoing success of these gatherings.

I just wanted to let you know that Dianne and I really enjoyed the conference. It was as always superbly organised and refreshingly relaxed compared to many others. I thought the hotel was excellent and what a location! We walked down to Soho every night to see a show.
