Cape Town Legal Conference
25 September-2 October 2017
In September 2017 we travelled to Cape Town. The city has much to offer and our delegates made the most of it!! Our delegates, presenters and their families enjoyed a week of sightseeing, shopping, food ... and of course wine. The weather was wonderful and the changing view of Table Mountain was a sight that kept us all mesmerised.
As always the highlight of the conference was hearing from local presenters including Paul Katzeff, CEO of C & A Friedlander Attorneys, Melanie Burke Chairman of Streetsmart SA and last, but by no means least, Jeremy Gauntlett SC QC. All provided fascinating insights into practice and life in South Africa.
Our Australian presenters were also first class and included Campbell Bridge SC, Michael Paul, Judge Richard Cogswell SC and Donna Ward. Michael Paul’s presentation on How The Family Court Treats The Mega Rich provided a source of much debate and comment from our delegates and Judge Richard Cogswell SC gave us a fascinating insight into the NSW Mental Health Tribunal.
On a more social note the walking tour of Cape Town which concluded with lunch at a residence in Bo Kaap was fantastic and provided a great overview of the city and South Africa as a whole. The wine tour of the region was also a great way for delegates, presenters and their families to get to know one another ... and when the tastings start at 10am you know it will be an interesting day.
Outside of the Conference Program many delegates arranged day trips and tours which provided an interesting insight into the history and social background of South Africa.
Our sincere thanks to our exceptional speakers and to all of our delegates who made our Cape Town Conference both enjoyable and successful.
